Queen's South Africa Medal with four claspsCAPE COLONY, ORANGE FREE STATE, TRANSVAAL, SOUTH AFRICA, named 21887 TPR H.BROMLEY. 28TH COY IMP YEO. Medal comes with copies of service records and medalrolls.

HerbertGeorge Bromley was born in 1881 in West Ham, Essex. An accountant’s clerk by trade, he wasserving with the City of London Volunteer Artillery when he volunteered forservice in South Africa with Paget's Horse on 26/1/1901. Paget's Horse wasrecruited from the ‘City” and had a large percentage of professional men.

He deployed to South Africa on 23/2/1901 and at some stagewas transferred from Paget's Horse (19th Imperial Yeomanry) to the 28th(BedfordshireYeomanry)

Unfortunately he was dead within 3 months of arriving in South Africa, dying of EntericFever at No. 3 General Hospital, Kroonstad, Orange River Colony on 19/5/1901.

He is buried in the Kroonstad Old Cemetery.
