CHURCHILL, Winston. Typed Letter Signed ("WinstonChurchill") in black fountain pen ink on his engraved Chartwell,Westerham, Kent letterhead, December 24, 1956. 7 1/2" x 9 1/2". 3 pages(recto only). Very good (three file holes in the top margin of all 3 pages).

Churchill writes this letter to M.G.M. Executive, Loew,updating him of the status of the film rights to My EarlyLife. The original rights were sold to Warner Bros. in1941, but recently a producer of Associated BritishPicture Corporation has expressed an interest in theproject.

"At this point I disclosed...the story of my negations withM.G.M., of which he had already had some indication. Isaid that I would wish, if it were physically possible,whatever arrangements were eventually agreed, to benefitM.G.M. in some way, since you had been so forthcomingin your dealings with me..."

"My Early Life" was filmed as "Young Winston" in 1972,directed by Richard Attenborough. The cast included: SimonWard as Winston Churchill, Robert Shaw as Lord RandolphChurchill, Anne Bancroft as Lady Jennie Churchill, JackHawkins, Ian Holm, Anthony Hopkins.
