New Hampshire Mirror Timepiece in original, as found condition. Quite simply, this is one of the very finest, and most original Mirror Clocks I have ever seen. Remarkable is the disposition of the surface! If you grew up collecting clocks the way I did and are a disciple of the "first finish" school, this may be for you: Untouched and "In the Black" What makes this clock even more special is the fact that the dial is concave. That's right, a "Dish Dial" Mirror Timepiece. The upper glass and mirror are both original. The sides of the case are paint decorated and the case is mortised as you can see in the photo. The cast iron weight is original. Note the very fine barbed hands. The pulley and winding crank are original as well. Maker ? The clock is unsigned and there is no evidence of a makers label. There is of coarse, the temptation to attribute this to Chandler, and it may in fact be a Chandler. The movement is very similar to a documented example in Parsons, New Hampshire Clocks & Clockmakers, Page 199. See the scan below in case you don't have the book. There are numerous high res. photos that tell the whole story. The panel behind the mirror is filled with 19th C pencil repair notes.
