Raymond Radiguet changes the title of his masterpiece, The Devil in the Body.

"Dear Sir, I believe I told you that Grasset asked me to change the title of my novel. I plan to call it Emmanuel or the Green Heart.

Time passes, I would be infinitely grateful if you would tell me when you plan to publish it, my return is subject to that date. Forgive me, sir, for abusing your kindness once again, and please believe my devoted feelings." Raymond Radiguet.

P.S. I handed over his manuscript to Cocteau. I don’t think there is an urgent need to return it to you and hand it over to Grasset when I return.

The Devil with the Body appeared by Grasset in March 1923, a few months before its author's death.

Radiguet had considered over a dozen titles for this first novel, noted on a schoolboy’s notebook: Head First, Head and Heart, Head Line and Heart Line, Heart Education, Arid Heart, Dry Eyes, etc.

Until the end of 1922, it was "Emmanuel ou le coeur vert" that seems to be definitively retained as evidenced by his "correspondence".
