Arguablythe rarest Mora era clock ever on the market as it was made by Daniel Triang seemingly for one of the the Swedish Royal families from Stjernsund Sweden in thelate 1700s. You can Google this castle and its history as well as the town itself and history of these clocks.. Though this clock was not made for the castle itself, This is no ordinary Mora era clock.

Ihave researched the clock and so far only 1 other clock remains bythe Maker Daniel Triang also made from the Stjernsund region. Theother one is in the typical paint grade Mora type case. This onehowever is in a much rarer hand made wood case with inlay! Almost certainly for an aristocrat or very wealthy person.

Iam giving this clock a shot on before I consider sending it tointernational sale where it will go if not sold on.

Provenanceand history:

Theclock is signed by its maker Daniel Triang. Its location of origin is on theclock face as seen in the images which isStjernsund. Sometime in the 1800s it came intothe Runquist family where it has been ever since. Ernest Runquistbrought the clock over to the US in 1921 to Chicago where it remaineduntil the late 1960s. The Runquist family moved to San Diego andbrought the clock there. Ernest died in 1977 and the clock passed tohis daughter (my client) and the clock was partially disassembled andmoved to Los Angeles. It was in good working order then. It has notbeen fully reassembled or wound since that time. The family brought it to me to besold. The clock appears to be 100% complete as described below and in the images.

Features:

Thisis not your typical paint grade cabinet Mora clock. The clockinternals are high quality. The plates are pewter and the gears arebronze. It does not have the typical lead counterweights as thisclock has large bronze counterweights. The weight cables are fullyintact. The secondary counterweight is lead and in good shape howeverthe leather string for it needs to be replaced. The pendulum appearsto be gold leafed and is intact. The case glass has a short hairline crack almost invisible. The clock face is average for its age with cracks in the enamel and a chip by the number 1 of the face easily repaired. It has other perimeter chips but they are not seen when the clock is in the case.

Thecase is remarkable! Not the usual paint grade Mora case as it wasbuilt for the wealthy. It is hand inlay wood of veryhigh quality. The case easily disassemble into 3 main parts which isgreat because it can be shipped in several boxes and will not require the usual massive crate.. This clock is 7 feettall (84 inches) fully assembled. The case has some veneer chips hereand there mostly on the door edges. I have some of the chips andthere is a small bag of veneer that was in the clock case that camewith it. Any pro can clean up the veneer chips easily. I have imagesof these chips if you want them.

Anyprofessional could put this clock back into use easily. It was inregular use until 1977 when it was moved. It has not been reassembledwith its counterweights and pendulums since. It appears to be 100%complete and has its winding crank. I would simply lube it properlyand put it back together but Im not an expert so I leave that to you.When it was moved last, a few of the back plate pins were lost. Iinstalled some modern replacement pins to keep it stabilized for shippingbut that is all I have done.

The listing shows local pick up only because there is no way to calculate shipping until after the sale due to location etc. All shipping is at cost of materials and shipping.
