THE ROUND FLAT CROWN OF THIS EXCEPTIONAL MEDIEVAL RING IS ADORNED WITH THE REPRESENTATION OF A WALKING STORK WITH WINGS DISPLAYED BEHIND, AND HAS PELLETS INCISED ABOUT IT.

IN THE MIDDLE AGES, A STORK WAS CONSIDERED A SYMBOL OF GOOD LUCK AND LONGEVITY. WHEN THEY RETURNED TO EUROPE IN THE SPRING IT WOULD BE TIME TO PLANT THE CROPS, AND WHEN THEY LEFT FOR THEIR ROOSTS IN AFRICA, IT MARKED THE ONSET OF WINTER AND TIME FOR THE HARVEST.

THIS RING IS A WEARABLE ARTIFACT, IN EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR ITS AGE, WITH NO MAJOR DEFECTS AND BRIGHT GILDING WITH LITTLE WEAR. THE SHANKS ON BOTH SIDES ARE ALSO GILDED, WITH A BEAUTIFUL INCISED SHIELD SHAPED LOZENGY PATTERN WITH STARS, AND A PRIMITIVE FLEUR FOR FLOURISH AT THE DOWNWARD POINT.
