This item isan original 1757 American Indian Peace Medal (sometimes called the "Quaker" or "Treaty of Easton" medal) issued by the British/by Britishsettlers.This is definitely one of theoriginal medals created in 1757.These were made at the time in Philadelphia, PA.Themedal itself is dated 1757 and has beautiful workmanship and has a heavyweight; it’s most likely made out of pure silver.I’ve never seen an Indian Peace Medal withsuch a beautiful and ornate suspension as this one has at the top.The suspension is not a simple hole stampedin the top of the medal like some Indian Peace Medals have but instead there’sa very ornate suspension at the top that is beautiful and reminiscent of apillar and there is a hole through it sideways so a Native American chief couldhave fed through that a ribbon or rope for suspending the medal from theneck.

Thedimensions are: 1 and 11/16 inches (both left to right and top to bottom); theheight of the medal is 1/8 inch.

On obverse:Image/bust of British King George II and it’s engraved on the medal: “GeorgiusII Dei Gratia [George II by the Grace of God]."

On reverse:An image of the sun is on the left with two figures sitting, one a NativeAmerican and the other a Euro-American settler near a tree.A man in Quaker clothes is sitting under atree holding a peace pipe over a council fire and a Native American is sittingalongside, with an image of the sun above and the date (“1757”) and the words:“Let us look to the most high who blessed our fathers with peace”.

This is anoriginal silver medal from 1757 and the patina is from that vintageperiod.This is not acopper/brass/bronze restrike and is not a replica. An original 1757 Indian Peace Medal like thisrecently sold at sale for $168,000.

I purchasedthis medal from an expert Native Americanitem collector who was also a dealer who sold Native American items. Theseller had written books on Native Americans so is an expert. Theexpert collector/dealer/author who sold this to me noted on item description for this item that this is an original 1757 Indian Peace Medal.
