Introduced by Victor in 1903, the “D” was the company’s Flagship phonograph until the VI came into the line-up three years later. The “D” featured a 12″ turntable and a triple spring motor that could play multiple record sides with a single winding.

The Mission Case Victor D, offered here, replaced the original Rococo Case Victor D in 1905 and was the final version of the D. It was also the precursor to the Victor V, which shared most of its features and was in production until 1920.

This Mission Case Victor D is in outstanding condition. The turntable felt has been replaced, but the phonograph is otherwise original throughout, with no replica or incorrect parts.

Solid oak cabinet retains its original finish and it’s still smooth, with no issues. Victor data tag is clean, complete and legible. All of the Mission oak trim is original and undamaged. Original paper license is still affixed to the underside of the baseboard.

Back-bracket enamel is clean and original, as are the decorations. All nickel plating is original.

Clean mechanism (recently lubricated), powerful triple-spring motor, clean original turntable, clean original crank. Victor Exhibition reproducer has a good needle bar and a good diaphragm, and it sounds great.

Original Victor Spear Tip horn -- Victor's largest, most ornate wood horn -- is likewise in excellent condition. Patent data is blind-stamped into the metal collar and still legible. Smooth original finish both inside and out, with an original "Nipper" decal on the horn's exterior that's still crisp and colorful.

The phonograph runs well and sounds great.

I'll include with the phonograph an early, acoustically recorded 78RPM Victor record. If you get tired of listening to it, there are plenty of other titles available on and elsewhere. Hundreds of early them show up on on a weekly basis, and they typically sell just a few dollars each.
PLEASE NOTE: This antique phonograph plays only antique shellac 78RPM records. It does not play at any another speed, and it does not play vinyl LPs. Just wanted to make sure that was clear.
