Offered are Very Rare ~ Antique ~ 1914 Pullman Made ~ Northern Pacific Railroad Clerestory - Roof Line Windows of the 1200 Series. Each window is 28-1/2" wide X 12" tall X 7/8" thick and made of Honduras Mahogany for the 1914 Heavyweight Luxury Passenger Car Line ordered by the NPR. These passenger cars were 70'-74' long. These windows were used on First Class Diners, Parlor Cars, Private Business Cars, Buffet / Smoking cars, Sleeping Cars, etc...and they use to open with a single rod that connected to each window, being able to open the entire row at once. There are enough windows to restore a whole clerestory type of car. When 2 are put together they form a Gothic Revival Arch.The "prism squares" and "protruding bars" are classic early-20th-century. This functional, texturized style was famously commercialized by companies likeLuxfer Prismto bend light deep into buildings, factories, and luxury transit cars. pre electricity lighting to maximize light into the Railcars.

The Monad Symbol wasadopted by the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1893 after a chief engineer saw a similar design at the World's Columbian Exposition and they specially ordered these for their cars. One side of the glass window is flat, and the other side is heavily embossed or "pressed" into moulds. The windows are inked marked & stamped into the wood edges numbers of 1210, 1216, 1217, 1218 & with Pullman Lot #'s 4136 and location numbers (1), (20), (34), (36), (19), (17), (30) etc...some are matching pairs, and some came from different cars altogether, but are the same Pullman Lot #'s and did fit and were interchangeable with these same Luxury cars. Most of the brass spring tabs on the sides are present but removed.

Note: These windows need restoration, the tiny curved / coved moulding are fragile, mostly intact, but some have a tiny piece missing, and some have dry rot in the mortise and tenon joints ( could use a wood hardener to treat those areas. The window frames are all loose, and need to be glue again, so the glass is a little easy to remove at this juncture. These are perhaps a one of a kind set that have survived 112 years! None of the glass windows are cracked or broken, some of the glass panels have been painted red.

During the 1930's a lot of the cars with clerestory windows were boarded over because of air conditioning retrofits, so these may have also been removed and fitted into other cars during their life and maintenance service work.

There are 40 individual windows, 20 units, and a typical car of this era would have 10 units per side of clerestory.
