This remarkable letter has been boldly signed by Malcolm X in black ink and presents a forceful defense of Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad. In the letter, Malcolm argues that Muhammad’s teachings were helping Black men abandon alcohol, drug addiction, gambling, and other destructive behaviors, while encouraging self-reliance and removing people from welfare. He contends that rather than investigating Muhammad, the government should support his efforts, arguing that his work was helping address social problems and reducing the government’s financial burden. Also included is an original 1946 Massachusetts State Prison document concerning Malcolm Little’s imprisonment for breaking and entering in the nighttime and larceny, for which he received a sentence of 8–10 years. PSA authenticated and encapsulated (9.5x13”) with a PSA Mint 9 auto grade. Includes a PSA letter of authenticity.
