For your consideration is an original 19th-century Dutch royal official double-ended brass seal stamp, circa 18501900, engraved with two separate intaglio matrices for practical administrative use. One face bears the Royal Arms of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, while the opposing face carries the Dutch royal crown alone, creating a compact dual-purpose sealing instrument most plausibly intended for use within the Royal Household or an office exercising authority in the name of the Crown.
The principal matrix is deeply engraved with the complete Dutch royal achievement: a crowned shield charged with the Dutch lion bearing sword and bundle of arrows, flanked by two rampant lion supporters and set above the motto ribbon JE MAINTIENDRAI, the hereditary motto of the House of Orange-Nassau. The engraving is cut in reverse for sealing, so that the heraldic design and motto would appear correctly oriented when impressed. The opposing matrix bears a large, carefully engraved royal crown, providing a simpler secondary device for less elaborate sealing requirements.
The seal measures approximately 24 mm in overall height, with each matrix measuring approximately 17 mm in diameter, and has a total weight of 28.75 grams.
