AUTHENTIC 1940’s to 1950’s ERA EDWARD H. BOHLIN, BOHLINMADE, HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA, USA, STERLING SILVER, GOLD, AND GEM PREMIUM RANGER STYLE MODEL 5-A BELT BUCKLE 3 PIECE SET.
This fantastic mid 20th century relic is a beautiful large domed Texas ranger style belt buckle made by the world famous BOHLINMADE brand, Edward H. Bohlin’s super premium silversmith company. The main buckle is a model 5-A, handcrafted from sterling silver and 10 karat gold……and there is a very generous amount of gold in the floral accents, monogram plate and roped trim. This was the top rated and finest production model from its era, and the 5-A was the model worn by many of the Hollywood stars that were regular patrons of the Bohlin Company. It is considered the most famous and finest example of mid 20th century American silversmith work in the belt buckle field……and this exact model was worn by many Hollywood stars, including Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and Robert Redford. It signified high class, quality, style and refinement.
The keeper and tip that come with this set give a very nice compatible appearance to the main buckle but we are not sure if they were original matching pieces to the main buckle…..we think possibly not. All 3 pieces look fantastic together and the main buckle was stamped “STERLING, 10-K”. The keeper was stamped “STERLING, 14-K”. The tip was stamped “10-K”. The main buckle was lightly engraved on the gold monogram plate “AHJ”. The keeper has a red gem, likely a ruby or garnet. The set is attached to partial leather belt pieces so it’s hard to gauge the weight of the set but we would estimate the total weight to be about 3 to 4 ounces. The main buckle measures 2 1/2” x 2 3/8” and fits belt straps up to one inch wide. The keeper also has a one inch opening and the tip has an opening just a tiny bit under one inch.
