Beautiful letter from Paul Langevin, then under house arrest in Troyes, after his incarceration in the prison of La Santé, in October 1940.

Maublanc's letter comforted him and he found himself in full agreement with him on the subject of his retirement pension "under the Collège de France" and his detention: "So all that remains for me is to be released by the authority which keeps me here and to be authorized by Vichy to leave France – I think that the government in Moscow will be able to obtain these two results for me. Anyway, before leaving for an indefinite period, I would have to spend the necessary time in Paris to settle, at least temporarily, my situation and that of my family […]”. A permission to go to the capital has just been refused to him but he hopes to obtain one in the future to meet his friend there.
