1840s French Louis XV Bronze Ormolu Clock Garniture Set
An exceptional authentic1840s French Louis XV clock garniture, consisting of one substantial mantel clock and two original matching seven-arm candelabras.
Crafted from heavy bronze with itsoriginal ormolu gilt finish, the three-piece ensemble displays the flowing curves, sculptural ornamentation and romantic decorative character associated with 19th-century French Rococo design.
The entire set has beencarefully cleaned rather than restored, preserving the original gilded surface and naturally aged patina. Photographs showing the garniture before cleaning are included to document its earlier untouched appearance.
Mantel ClockThe impressive clock is richly decorated with Rococo scrollwork, foliage and floral ornamentation. A finely modelled cherub crowns the composition, depicted holding a bird and flower.
The original enamel dial features both Roman and Arabic numerals and elegant bronze hands.
The clock has been professionally serviced by a qualified clockmaker and is in good working order.
Matching Seven-Arm CandelabrasThe two original matching candelabras each feature a sculptural child or cherub supporting an elaborateseven-arm candle arrangement.
