Laura Gachupin (also spelled Gauchupin in some references, born November 4, 1954, at Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico) is a renowned traditional potter from Jemez Pueblo. She is recognized as one of the leading contemporary artists from the pueblo, known for reviving and excelling in certain traditional styles.
She learned pottery-making from her grandmother, Persingula Gachupin, and was also influenced by her mother, Marie G. Romero (a noted potter who helped expand storytelling figures at Jemez). Laura is part of a talented family; she's the sister of potter Maxine Toya.
