OMEGA WW2 RAF PILOTS WATCH (6B/159) - 1943
A superb example of this iconic wristwatch, as worn by RAF pilots during WW2. As shown in photographs the rear of case is marked 6B/159. This code was only marked on timepieces destined for pilots. (The other number - A12218 is the RAF serial number when issued) Serial number of the immaculate movement (Ref 30T2) is 9821407, which shows a manufacture year of 1943. The original case has just a few minor marks, as shown and is the 2292 'Duralim' type (aluminium alloy). The fixed bars are unbent and, unlike some others, have not been re-drilled and relocated. The acrylic crystal, as far as I can tell, is original. The oiled leather strap is an almost exact copy of an original one-piece, hand-made by a highly respected engineer using bespoke tooling (unlike canvas NATO straps, it does not need to be folded over through being too long).
Case size - 33mm (approx). Dial size - 30mm (approx)
In full working order and appears to keep good time. However, as with all my vintage/antique timepieces I cannot guarantee its accuracy and would advise regular servicing to maintain its superb condition. You would be hard pushed to find a better, unmolested example of this iconic watch.
