Here is an outstanding Northwestern University college scrapbook belonging to Eugene W. Flack. It is dated between 1911-1915.It has forty-two pages of Northwestern University subject matter. There is fine calligraphy under most of the ephemera. This in itself is very unusual and rarely seen in scrapbooks. Furthermore, the layout is extremely neat and clean, well-organized, and there is a fine attention to detail.With a minimal proportion of newspaper clippings and a generous amount of university publication, it is unlike most scrapbooks of the time. The condition is very good for the age. There is minimalwear to the cover of the book, while the inside is extremely well-preserved. As such, the scrapbook gives us a rare and special glimpse into the rich history of Northwestern University, and of Mr. Flack, who was a prominent student at the time. Itwould certainly be a valuable addition for anyone's personal library, or it would make a wonderful gift to add to the University's library archives. At the end of the scrapbook there are fifteen pages of Mr Flack's personal life after graduation, including military and family photos, up to 1918, (there is no calligraphy for this section).
Added as a free bonus is an additional collection of over 200 photos and ephemera related to Mr. and Mrs. Flack's personal life after graduation: Family, friends, events, world travels, ect.
