WOW🤩 Up for sale is an ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL, early 1900’s “YE OLDE TOWNE SHOPPE Hennessy” Candy Store, Double Sided Wooden Trade Sign, with its Original hand forged Decorative Mounting Bracket.

This REMARKABLE sign holds significant value, as it is made by the notable candy maker “William Hennessy” known as the "Candy King" in the Cambridge and Boston areas. Hennessy made his fortune after leaving Ireland with nothing, he worked as a candy maker in Chicoine’s candy shop on Norfolk Street in Cambridge for a number of years before deciding to open his own store, believing he could make more superior candies, His store became successful very quickly, notably due to the high quality of the candies on sale. In 1915, he made the bold decision to expand and opened a second candy store in Boston, as well as the existing store in Cambridge. Hennessy ended up amassing a sizeable fortune from his empire of candy manufacturing and real estate.

We believe this incredible sign to be from one of those two Boston area locations.

This sign is double side, painted wood, relief with bold 3 dimensional lettering with a detailed “Hennessy” crest / logo at the top on both sides.

Its Condition is very good and SOLID for its age, sign does show some wear, with the paint cracking and a light crack in the wool along the sides, here and there, one of the hooks on the bracket is not original to the piece. Overall considering age this piece it is in great shape. Please see detailed pictures provided for a closer look at condition.
