Important and Rare Silver-Gilt Polish Amulet, Early 19th CenturyBeautifully engraved into the front of the amulet are two rampant lions flanking and holding a crowned letter 'Hey', standing over a foliate design. This particular motif is displayed on kiddush cups of that period and region.Featured on the reverse is a prayer which blesses a child to grow up in the ways of Torah, good deeds, marriage, and old age. This prayer is very unique in the fact that it mentions that the child should live to 100 years, unlike the customary practice of blessing people to live till 120 years of age. Engraved prayer is surrounded by laurel leaves and tied off with a ribbon at the bottom.An attached loop at the top allows this amulet to be accessorized with a chain to be worn around one's neck..46ozt5.5 x 5.5cm.
