1880s 1st Negro League & MLB Player Weldy Walker Baseball Cabinet Card:

1880’s Weldy Walker cabinet card. Published in Philadelphia. Weldy is considered to be the third African American MLB player. Weldy was the first MLB African American to cross over to negro league baseball. Weldy played MLB for the 1884 Toledo Blue Stockings along with his brother Moses Fleetwood Walker. Weldy also played in the first baseball negro league in 1887. Weldy was in Philadelphia when he made his MLB debut. Weldy was recruited by the Blue Stockings mid season due to injuries. The team recruited Weldy while they were in Philly on a road trip. Moses Fleetwood Walker was not on that road trip. Cabinet is a little less than 5 by 7 inch. Stains, toning and wear.
