20 years ago, PhanToMB Publishing worked with most of the original EC Artists of the 1950's!(Tales from the Crypt, etc) The initial goal was to publish horror comics like the good old days,which they did! The Ghoul-Lunatic gang drew new-----and horrific-----front covers for ToMB Tales,which were an homage to the great EC comics of the 50's------with new stories and twist endings!

"A Screaming Success!"(aka "Seance") by EC Artist Johnny CRAIG
Way back during the last century, PhanToMB Publishing contacted ECArtist Johnny Craig and asked him to do a Horror painting. Being a realnice guy, he agreed immediately! But.....what subject? A werewolf? A vampire?The Horrid Host (from ToMB Tales)------Crumblin' Charlie----- made the decision.Let's re-do the "Seance" cover from Vault of Horror comics #25!
The composition was changed from the SQUARE artwork on the comic bookcover to a VERTICAL scene, which gave Johnny room to raise the rotting headup toward the ceiling. The woman in the green dress was re-done------her facewas changed from a puzzled look to a horrified expression! (wouldn't you behorrified to see your soldier-son come back from the Beyond with most of hisface shot away?) And the space near the ceiling was now filled with evil, movingghostly creatures......moving through the darkness! Perhaps....moving toward you!
Finally, the man in the foreground of the comic book cover was moved overto the left-----so instead of looking at the back of his bald head, we can see a bitof his face (from the side). Well, wouldn't you agree that the scene was nowconsiderably improved?
And from the terrified look on everyone's face (except the stoic Medium),wouldn't you agree that this particular Seance was....."A Screaming Success"???
