Sukkot Holiday Information – When is Sukkot?

sukkot-header

With the final blowing of the Shofar, The Jewish High Holy Days draw to a close and the focus of the Jewish community shifts from the solemnness of Yom Kippur to the jubilant celebration of the festival of Sukkot. Sukkoth begins on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Tishri, which is 5 days after Yom Kippur.

The festival of Sukkot, the nine-day festival also known as Chag’ha Succot, the “Feast of Booths” (or Tabernacles), is named for the huts (sukkah) that Moses and the Israelites lived in as they wandered the desert for 40 years before they reached the Promised Land.

Sukkot concludes with a special two-day holiday. The first of these days is known as Shemini Atzeret, meaning “the eighth day of assembly”, and the final day is Simchat Torah, meaning “the joy of Torah“.

So here for your entertainment are some fun Holiday things for you and your family. We hope you find something you like! So bring your kids and tell your friends. And please stop by again.
