Since the Roman diplomat Gaius Clinius Maecenas started the trend that supported intellectuals and poets such as Virgil and Horace, his name became inevitably associated to the definition for “spirit of patronage”.

There are many forms of art and culture where the individual creative spirit comes alive for all to see.

Literature, theatre, music and the performing and visual arts - these high expressions of the human experience inspire us and stand as manifest measures of civilisation.

Throughout the ages, generous and far-sighted patrons have provided the support needed to make such endeavours possible. Without their engagement, even the greatest artists would struggle to fulfil the promise of their talent.

Every year for the past 30 years, Montblanc has been delighted to honour great patrons and their cultural legacy by adding to the Montblanc Patron of Art Collection.

Their stories were told through strictly limited fountain pens featuring special designs and various craftsmanship techniques.
