This antique Kosher Megillah Esther Scroll is a unique piece of Judaica. The handwritten Hebrew text on vellum is a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of its creator. The amount of time and skill needed to execute this amount of near perfect handwritten Hebrew calligraphy is astounding. Everything about this scroll is done in a fully Kosher manner. It is written on sheepskin vellum and when fully unrolled measures roughly 170 inches long and the scroll itself is 6 1/4” tall excluding the wooden mount which is missing one of the handles. The length of the scroll excludes the preamble page which is separate and was not attached to the rest of the scroll. The scroll itself is in generally fine condition and shows wear appropriate with being quite old. I have treated this scroll with the utmost respect in the process of photographing and measuring it. It is currently being stored inside an airtight container that resides in a climate controlled space. The cost of a modern Kosher handwritten scroll of this quality is extremely high.
