Century-old Alberto Vargas piece titled An Evening Star, drawn in pastels on paper. The beautiful flapper (or show girl) is imbued with the moonlight of the starry night, causing her golden locks to glow. Her bobbed hair and frilly dress hearkens back to a long past era...but her haunting smile lives on.
While most renowned for his nude pin-ups, Vargas was equally capable of drawing clothed women. This image was one of just two Vargas pieces commissioned by the Joseph Hoover & Sons Calendar Co. for a 1935 calendar. This image has been extensively reprinted over the decades.
Art measures 26" x 20" and is framed to dimensions of 33" x 27". Also included are two Brown & Bigelow art prints: 12" x 16" and 6" x 8". Calendar is an example only and is not included.
