UNUSUAL 1840'S DAGUERREOTYPE - TWO BEAUTIFUL ETHNIC LOOKING SISTERS - FULL CASE- If you are a seasoned collector of daguerreotypes, you will immediately be drawn to this fine looking pair of young women; sisters I believe. Why? Because their obvious ethnic background can be seen in their unusual facial features. I have passed this image by several collectors for their opinion. The consensus is they are from a location in Central America. In this awesome 1840's effort, these young ladies are both in the latest fashions of the times, including lace collars. The younger standing girl wear a short sleeve dress which also suggests warmer time of year or climate where this image was taken. No matter what, the image is very intriguing and raises more questions than answers; something I adore in all photos. Their likeness rest in the leatherette case with the original hinge still intact and a gorgeoussilk pillow. I am sure this sixth plate would look fantastic in your collection of 19th Century hard plates. Good luck to my winning buyer.

CONDITION:Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this cased images and as part of my description. The sixth plate daguerreotype has been resealed and new cover glass added. The image has excellent contrast, tonal range and fantastic overall sharpness. There are some significant spots on the plate, but primarily around the border. What makes this sixth plate special are the rareness of the two young subjects and the ethnic origin. The full case has the original leather hinge, the single working latch and near perfect silk pillow adjacent to their portrait. I will carefully ship this item to the winning buyer by way of Priority Mail.
