His story is best documented in the 2005 documentary FRISBEE: LIFE & DEATH of a HIPPIE PREACHER.Before his salvation occurred up in the mountains of Tahquitz Canyon while he was high on LSD, Lonnie Frisbee was an aspiring artist who won a scholarship to the prestigious San Francisco Academy of Art.This is a ceremonial native Indian mask that Lonnie Frisbee fashioned some time in the 1980s when he was mining the depths of his own native Indian heritage. The mask is approximately 12" x 12".The mask was handed down as a gift from someone very close to Lonnie Frisbee, and provenance can definitely be established very easily.One of the few pieces of artwork remaining from a seminal figure in California and evangelical Christian history.The pictures not only show the mask, but a few pics from his life and ministry, some pictures of his native Indian artwork as well as the mask in a blanched state before he painted it.
