The Edition Octoechos, a publisher of sheet music from Stockholm-Sweden, is in possession of the original manuscript of Djuro Zivkovic’s chamber orchestra composition “On the Guarding of the Heart”. The music is composed in 2011 and premiered by the famous Viennese ensemble “Das Klangforum Wien”.

In year 2014 the composition has been awarded by the most important world recognition that a living composer can achieve: “The Grawemeyer Award for musical composition”, awarded by the University of Louisville, Kentucky, US.

The previous recipients of the same award are Pierre Boulez, Gyorgy Ligeti, Witold Lutoslawski, Toru Takemitsu, Arvo Pärt, Tan Dun, John Adams, John Corigliano, Kaija Saariaho, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Krzysztof Penderecki, et cetera.

The manuscript is the original, handwritten score by the composer, full finished, consisting of 63 sheets of A3 size, single leaves, single sided, (297 x 420 cm / 11.7 x 16.5 in), written with pencil on white and creme-colored paper. The manuscript consists also the title and preface pages and is signed by the composer.

Since its premiere, the piece was performed countless times around the world including Chicago Symphony, Sydney Symphony, and venues such as Barbican Centre, Wiener Konzerthaus among others.

The composition, being positioned as a cornerstone in the musical history of the early 21st century, can be of great interest and value both now and in the future.
