Benitoite Matrix is a rare form of the host rock that benitoite is found in. That matrix is mainly soft but there are rare occurrences of matrix that is strong/hard enough to polish. The beautiful range of deep blue to grey blue Schist mixed with white Natrolite is stunning. Some of these contain benitoite in various stages of formation from gem quality to stony. Additionally some of these stones can contain Neptunite in various stage of formation, and even the rarer Joaquinite.

Comes from the Benitoite Gem Mine in San Benito, California.
