Vintage 1950s Owl Fighting Otter Inuit Hand-Carved Soapstone Eskimo Sculpture 40+lbs. Large and very heavy. Made of genuine soapstone. Part of a collection of rare native Inuit art that was purchased by our buyers. This piece is in very good condition with superb attention to detail and expressiveness. There are a few small chips on this piece, please see photos for details. This piece is signed on the bottom by Abraham Niaquq Irquq (Inuit Disc Number E9-1411) of the Povungnituk Settlement. The disc number is carved into the underside of the statue. This piece weighs more than 40 lbs and measures 16" x 10" x 5". There is some staining on the piece due to improper storage, please see photos.
