Abalone Shell, Olive Wood

All handmade and carved pieces. These are fragile and intricate pieces with Mother of Pearl and Ruby. This one has only a small piece of Mother of Pearl missing on a rounded corner near the left top as shown. Most on the market are cracked, missing large pieces, don't have the ruby red, or other issues because of their age and how fragile they are. It has not been repaired or reconditioned that lessens the value. It is 100% original. This piece has made it a long time and for over a decade there hasn't been one in better condition found on the market. Truly a unique and one of a kind piece just like a work of art.

This antique mother-of-pearl icon was handmade in Jerusalem, carved and engraved within an olive wood frame.

This diorama shadow box art piece features an intricate carving of Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper.

The abalone shell work was done by Eastern Orthodox Christians in Jerusalem and Bethlehem called "Melchites".

These icons were made for pilgrims to the Holy Land to bring back from the Grand Tour, from the early 1830's right through to the mid Twentieth Century. This one is estimated to be from the late 1800's.
