Artist: Maria Vasilievna Lebedeva (1895-1942)Maria Lebedeva signed her works with the letter "M" with a swan depicted above it.Maria Lebedeva's works were exhibited at national and international exhibitions, notably the International Art Exhibition in Paris in 1925 and the Russian Art Exhibitions in Vienna and Berlin in 1930. Many of the artist's works feature the unity and struggle of opposites, symbols of the old and the new. They contain virtually no symbols of Soviet power. While Lebedeva did create works to promote the new government and the October Revolution, they undoubtedly stood out for their originality and expressiveness.
