This is the high school yearbook of Clarence Matt Baker. The first black comic artist and the golden standard for good girl art in comics. The first page of the book is a full page illustration of the Westinghouse high school that Matt illustrated and graduated from in 1940. I do not know if this is his first published art, being that he was in high school it was definitely one of his earliest if not first published art. Matt wrote in his bio that he wanted to be a commercial artist after graduating, which he succeeded at. He has inspired many generations of future artists. He created the first black superhero. He also took good girl comic art to another level. This printed work of his is the rarest published work that I have found. I wish he had lived longer and had been able to create more beautiful work, possibly it wouldn’t be so rare then. His life was short, but important.

The pages are white. The pages are bound, somewhat loose but attached. There are no markings in the book that I have seen. No smells. Wonderful condition for its age. Extremely rare.
