[The History of This Doll]This is a very “rare” “Donald Jenny” doll—a non-commercial item that McDonald’s Japancommissioned from TAKARA at the timeas a special-order “in-store display item”for sales promotion, with only a few units produced. A few of these were displayed in McDonald’s stores,and this particular Donald is an unused, stored itemin excellent condition—so well-preservedthat it’s hard to believe it was made about 35 years ago. [History of TAKARA]In 1987, the third-generation Licca-chan was at the height of its popularity.In 1982, Takara began selling “Takara Barbie,”and in 1986, it was renamed to the first-generation “Jenny.”In 1987, production of the Hong Kong-made Jenny began.*This Donald doll, however, was made in Japanusing the Jenny body. [Doll’s Condition]The head is a custom-made Donald mold.The eye makeup is pristine. No discoloration. The hair is custom-made red “curly style” hair. The body uses the Jenny mold and has been [speciallywhite-painted]; the inscription “Creation, CopyrightTAKARA Co., Ltd. 1987 JAPAN” islocated on the lower back. The arms and legs reuse Jenny’s parts and are made of flesh-colored rubberwith wire for articulation. The clothing appears to have been specially made,and is crafted with great care.The shoes are made of felt, and you can seetraces of hand-stitching. They may be one-of-a-kind.
