This 1987 Disney Dollar is theoriginal A Series sold in Disneyland. There were 3 series issued in thefirst year of production (1987). The first series (this bill) containedthe mistake on the top right front side which is printed with “ MAY BE USED ASLEGAL TENDER ONLY AT DISNEYLAND” The dollarscould be used in both Disneyland and Disney World but the 1st series (serialnumbers beginning with A), contained this phrase This minting error was fixedin the second issued (aka Type 2 A*****A Series) to include the expansion ofthe Disney Dollar to use as legal tender atWalt Disney World. Thecorrected bills now read “MAY BE USED AS LEGAL TENDER ONLY AT DISNEYLAND ANDWALT DISNEY WORLD”
Therefore, this is a very hard to find minting error.

This first printing consisted of only870,000 $1 bills and 176,000 $5 bills.They were printed by DPI Printers in Battlecreek, Michigan, UnitedStates and Engraved by the U.S. Banknote Corporation. The second series the(1987A), released at both parks, stated on the bill "May be used as legaltender only at Disneyland and Walt Disney World". Additionally, the typeof paper was changed to “unwater marked” so that it would be more resistant inFlorida’s climate. The Serial numberalso added the “A” on the end.
