Belgium: Medal of the Waasland POW Assn. 1914-18 & Medalof the F.N.P.G./N.V.O.K. 1) Scarce Flemish medal for the unveiling of the Flagof the Waasland POW organization on 25 May 1930. Waasland is a northern regionof Belgium, located in the province of East Flanders. The “KG” on the obverseis the abbreviation of “Krijgsgevangene,” Dutch for prisoner of war. The medalis in near extremely fine condition, on what is probably the original ribbon ofthe Belgian national colors. 2) Medal of the Fédération Nationale desPrisonniers de Guerre (F.N.P.G./National Federationof Prisoners of War); in Dutch: Nationale Vereniging van Oud-Krijgsgevangenen(N.V.O.K.). Bronze medal for former Belgian POW’s of the First and Second WorldWars that are members of the F.N.P.G./N.V.O.K.; with bronze palm for meritoriousservice to the organization. The F.N.P.G. was founded in November 1914 byBelgian POW’s confined in Germany, and eventually encompassed Belgian POW’sfrom the Second World War. The organization’s mission is to provide materialand medical assistance to former POW’s and their families. The medal is inextremely fine condition, on the original ribbon.
