14 Piece Extraordinary Austrian Vienna Bronze FROG Orchestra:

No two members of this orchestra are alike, although there are 2 drummers (one with just drumsticks and the other with a stick and cymbals) and 2 violinists (although one may be a violin and the other a viola). Similarly, there is one cello player! There is a trumpet player, flute player, triangle player, accordionist, clarinetist, a conductor (rarely found), a cymbal player and a vocalist.

Several of the pieces are propped up by figural structures such as a shell (the vocalist), polka-dotted toadstools, a log, a snail (!!) seaweed, a tree stump, etc. Very cleverly designed. Our favorites are the toadstools and the snail.

Two pieces are 'signed'. One has a hallmark impressed and the other the word 'Austria'. The one marked 'Austria' is the drummer with the solid black base. The impressed word is under the black paint and impossible for us to capture on camera.

They range in size from the accordion player sitting on a toadstool at 1 1/8" to the standing violinist 1 1/4". Excellent condition with minimal paint loss. Unknown date manufactured with best guess being 1920s-40s. These pieces were found as part of an estate and were likely collected over a lifetime.
Each is finished in the cold painting process the Austrian's employed starting in the late 1800s. Special enamel paints were applied to the cast bronze base. What we absolutely love about these miniature pieces is that the bright green frogs remind us of the teeny tiny bright green tree frogs common here in Florida. Those tree frogs are about the same size as these miniature musicians!

Sold individually they would fetch approx. $140 - $225.00 each. Conductor is rare piece and this set is a once in a lifetime collection.
