This exquisite hand-painted black lacquer miniature brooch is a stunning piece of Russian folk art. Made in the Palekh style, it features intricate details and vibrant colours that are sure to catch the eye.

Palekh Lacquer Miniature Painted Brooch.

Swiftly rides Ivan Tsarevich through the night to show his Father the trophy of his expedition, a glowing feather of the Firebird. After his first adventure, Ivan is to overcome many more challenges as the Famous Russian Tale goes, including an attempt on his life by his own brothers. This epic traditional tale of the Firebird & Wolf is depicted beautifully in miniature Palekh Lacquer Painting Technique by renowned Russian Artist E.Kuznetsova.

The elegant oval shaped brooch is framed delicately with woven fine Silver Wire with a secure fastening pin attached on the rear where the piece is signed by hand in Gold Leaved Fine Paint, Titled &dated 1991r. (The ‘r’ pertains to it being painted & jewellered in Russia). When translated, the title is ‘Knight’.

What stands out particularly is the Artists ability to convey most of this traditional fairytale without depicting all the main elements, however their presence is portrayed through Symbolism, Color & Fine Detailed Gold Brushstrokes.

You won’t find a better example of the Traditional Palekh Lacquer Painting Technique as the ‘Russia’, that the piece was painted in, doesn’t exist anymore. Don’t be fooled by inferior quality copies, the brooch I offer for sale is genuinely hand-painted, NOT a paper mache glued & lacquered print.

Dimensions are 5cm x Length, 3cm x Height, 1cm x Width. Bought 2023 in London, Gt Britain sale, the Original hand-painted piece is Titled:-“Knight”, Dated:-“1991r”, Signed Artist:-“Kuznetsova.E” on back of brooch, by hand in fine gold leaved paint in Russian language.

Valued between $2000-$6000. Condition is extremely good, contains high lustre & its construction is sturdy. Maybe could be polished if need be but I wouldn’t want to damage the fine details contained in the piece.
