For sale is a truly amazing plaque made in the Royal Vienna style by an unknown maker likely in Austria or Germany in the late 19th century . I have never seen one this huge! The piece is nicely hand painted with a maroon colored ground frame around the scene with gold designs to it in raised gilding with lots of detail to them. The scene in the center is of a couple sitting on the ground where the gentleman is giving a floral bouquet to the lady, a couple that is standing next to them where the gentleman is holding some flowers and then a lady next to them bend over to add something to a pot that has smoke coming out of it. They people are all dressed in very fancy outfits. They are standing in an outdoor area with some columns near them, a stone fence to one side and a fountain with water in it to the other. A really detailed scene of very nice quality. And it is huge! And heavy! The piece measure about 39 inches wide, 24 inches tall and about 0.75 inches thick. It weights around 60 pounds I would say. The plaque is in great condition with a few spots were something silver rubbed off on it - to on the very right side of the scene and two on the very right side. None are distracting to the piece. A few minor scratches to the scene. The edge is a bit messed up as it must have been framed in something so there is clue residue and some minor chipping from when it was removed. It is not terrible and can probably be cleaned up a bit more but once it has a new frame none of this will be visible. I might even look into having that done myself. It truly is a spectacular piece and you won't find one this size again. No marks in the back at all but it is signed by the artist in the scene in the bottom right hand corner as shown. 20th century 20thC 19thC German Malerei Szene Painting on Bild
