VERY VERY RARE GUTTA PERCHA - TEN IMAGE CASE - "TWO LOVERS GOING TO THE WELL"BERG 1-16 - WOW!!!-You are considering what is considered one of the most beautiful thermoplastic cases ever produced and known as, "Two Lovers Going to the Well." This rare example is in very good condition based on a few minor exterior chips, but I would consider the interior of this very very rare case to be in excellent condition. Paul Berg describes this example that can house six sixteenth plates and four ninth plates as very very rare in comparison to the same case with only openings for five images. I would say from my experience as a longtime case collector, there maybe as few as 10 to 60 of these cases that were ever made. If you happen to be a collector of these beautiful works of art, I am sure you would enjoy this one to display with your favourite cased images.You may occasionally see the same case that houses only five images, but I dare you to find another with ten image example in this good of condition. CONDITION:Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of the image and as part of my description.The housing is slightly larger than quarter plate case.The height of the case is 5 1/2 inches by 4 1/8 inches wide.The small images are 1 5/8 inches tall by 1 3/8 inches wide.The larger images are 2 3/8 inches tall by 2 inches wide.This example as mentioned above has a few scattered edge chips, but otherwise in fantastic antique condition. The case closes squarely and latches shut, although the bottom male part of the clasp is broken. The case contains all of the felt keepers to hold your images securely in place. I will carefully ship this item to the winner by way of Priority Mail.
