Antique “Charles Boulle” Style Clock with Companion Candlesticks — 19th Century, France
A distinguished timepiece crafted in the mid-19th century, executed in the revered manner of André-Charles Boulle, the master ébéniste of the court of Louis XIV.
Materials:
Ebony, finely cast and gilded bronze, tortoiseshell veneer, and enamel work — all fashioned in the noble tradition of French decorative arts.

This set has been restored faithfully according to traditional restoration methods, employing hand-rubbed shellac in keeping with historical craftsmanship.
About André-Charles Boulle:
André-Charles Boulle (1642–1732) was a celebrated French artist and woodcarver, widely regarded as the most gifted cabinetmaker of his age. Serving in the workshops of King Louis XIV, he perfected the intricate marquetry technique that now bears his name — Boulle inlay — used to adorn fine furniture and clock cases throughout Europe.
