Up for sale here is an exceptionally rareLie-Nielsen No. 1 size bench plane, produced in 1993 as part of the special STCC-93 limited edition commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Stanley Works, 1843–1993, and the First Stanley Tool Collectors Convention.

This example is serial number 37 and is accompanied by its original custom presentation box and original Certificate of Limited Edition.

According to the original certificate, total production was limited to no more than 250 individually serial-numbered planes. The certificate also states that the plates, molds, and patterns used to produce the edition were permanently altered or destroyed after completion of the final plane.

This is a highly desirable early Lie-Nielsen collectible with strong Stanley Tool Works provenance and outstanding display appeal.

Condition

This example is in mint condition with no scratches and displays a very attractive, natural patina on bronze that gives the plane outstanding collector appeal, no modifications or cleaning done and stored in humidity controlled safe. The wood handles, metal components, sole, and overall finish present beautifully.

The plane appears exceptionally well preserved and shows no signs of abuse or heavy use. The original box is also included and shows only minor age-related shelf wear.

These commemorative No. 1 planes were produced in extremely limited numbers and seldom appear complete with both the original box and matching certificate.
