François-Louis (dit « Jean ») Schmied, artiste suisse installé à Paris, est une grande figure dulivre de bibliophilieentre les deux guerres :dessinateur, graveur sur bois et éditeur, il crée des ouvrages Art déco d’un luxe exceptionnel, tirés en petit nombre, aujourd’hui très recherchés.

FRANÇOIS-LOUIS SCHMIED(1873–1941)

François-Louis (known as “Jean”) Schmied, a Swiss artist based in Paris, was a leading figure in fine press book production between the two World Wars. A draughtsman, wood engraver and publisher, he created exceptionally luxurious Art Deco books in very small print runs, highly sought after today.
