A stunning giant green and brown verdite sculpture of an elephant by master sculpture Gideon Umera. His career started at the early age of sixteen and was later taught by renowned sculptor Lameck Zane. Today Gideon has far surpassed his aspirations to be one of Zimbabwe’s top wildlife carvers. He is recognized as a world class elephant sculptor. The piece shown here is far larger than other sculptures of this type currently for sale and measures approximately 38”high x 33”wide x 18”deep and very heavy weighing close to a couple hundred pounds. The piece was purchased from an art gallery in Vancouver B.C. in 2002 and has remained in a private collection since that time.
