Offered today are eight vintage and original mounted two-inch square medium format color transparency slides taken at the March 25, 1965 protest march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. Event culminated in the famous standoff and violence at the Edmund Pettus Bridge where John Lewis among others was beaten by police. This important event also had the participation of many clergymen ...both black and white.... who came down from the north to participate.

Color photographs from this historic event are extremely rare as only a scant few have been referenced.

This is a very important archive showing a pivotal moment in black history and of course that is American history as well.

Slides exhibit some minor defects.

A set of color-corrected set of 8 x 10 prints will also be provided to the purchaser of this group.
