This California seascape by Laguna Beach Artist Alida Van Gores (1951-1998) is on canvas and she used both brush and palette-knife.Signed lower left. Colors are crisp and bright, It is in excellent condition. It measures 6" X 12". The frame is in good condition with one surface ding (see photo). The frame seems original and is about 11.25" X 17.25" Los Angeles Times on May 2 1988 tells us a little about Alida Adrianna Van Gores "...If the ocean and fishing fulfill her physical needs, they also inspire her palette-knife painting, which has earned her an enviable reputation within the Laguna Beach art community as well as in art circles throughout the Southland."That's why I'm so good at subjects like lighthouses, shorebirds and such scenes as the crashing sea," she said. "I love the ocean. It lives inside me and often gives me strength."She is also a palette-knife painting teacher, and for the past 10 years, she has been demonstrating her skills as an exhibitor at the annual Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach..." She was becoming a recognized writer at the time of her early death at age 47. Her obituary is on line from Variety July 6, 1998.
