A beautifully carved antique Victorian pine carousel horse believed to have been manufactured by G. & J. Lines, a renowned British maker established in the mid-nineteenth century. Early G & J Lines horses are just as sought after and collectible as F. H. Ayres.

Provenance: Sold Sotheby’s London, April 27, 2004. Lot 36. Subsequently acquired from the collection of Ann and Gordon Getty—one of the most significant, private museum-worthy collections.
