This GORGEOUS cotton 1850\'s / 1860\'s whig rose quilt is all hand pieced, hand appliqued and hand quilted, with hand embroidered accents and a complex swag border with unusual flowers.It measures 80\" X 92\" and is invery good condition, with age staining (mostly visible on the back) and no holes or damage.
The hand quilting is exceptional, with very close, dense straight line designs (aka \"stipple quilting\") quilted throughout at an even 8-10 stitches to the inch.
The back is white, the hand stitched binding is a red and green print (that appears later... the binding was likely replaced by hand at some point), and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
