Offering this rare and stunning 19th century Royal Vienna Portrait plate. The plate is aprox. 9.25" in diameter. The plate is beautifully hand painted with a portrait of Vittoria Colonna an Italian Noble Woman and Poet. She has long flowing hair and wearing a fig leaf head band. The plate has a gorgeous brilliant Gold etched design surrounding it's border. The Portrait Plate is signed Wagner on the lower right hand side of the portrait. This is from a collection of Royal Vienna plates I purchased from a gentleman that has been collecting for years. He had them all hung in a row high on his walls and grouped together looked like Rich Works of Fine Art (better than a painting). Being a collector he tried to buy pieces that were unique and not the typical Royal Vienna portraits the were reproduced in large numbers like "Una Gitana". This plate is in near mint condition and was well loved and taken care of. Many Plates have been touched up or cracked and repaired- If something of high quality and desirablity sells cheap- there's a reason for it. Personally, I am particular with womens portrait plates- I want and sell the one's with truely beautiful women- and not the ones that are described as beautiful when they're not. Look at the photo's and believe your eyes- not a description. The good Wagner portrait plates are the most desirable........But, the highest price.
