Originally found in Khourigba, Morocco, from the Early Eocene epoch (Ypresian age, 56 to 47.8 million years ago).

The size of the specimen is 32 cm x 78.5 cm x 16.5 cm (
length x height).

Overall height with stand is 25.2 cm.

Dyrosaurus Phosphaticus (also called Dyrosaurus maghribensis) is an extinct crocodylomorph of the Dyrosauridae family from the Ypresian phosphatic series of the Oulad Abdoun Basin of Morocco. Stratigraphically, the crocodyloform remains described occur in the Couche I-0 (‘layer 1’, according to the miner’s terms) from the Early Eocene epoch (Ypresian age, 56 to 47.8 million years ago).

Dyrosaurus was a long snouted crocodile that had jaws filled with numerous,‭ ‬thin curved teeth, indicative of a piscivorous‭ (‬fish eating‭) ‬lifestyle.‭ ‬At up to six meters long,‭ ‬Dyrosaurus were large when compared to modern crocodiles. Based on bone tissue evidence, it has been hypothesized that the family Dyrosauridae were a slow-growing, near-shore marine animal that had the ability to swim as well as walk on land.

The bone was professionally cleaned, hardened, and mounted on display. All stand and packaging are customized for each specimen and are unique.

Due to the aged nature of the materials, please note that the preservation of fossils often includes reparation, restoration, and enhancement. A specimen is rarely uncovered in totality and customarily entails the replacement and reconstruction of various elements lost from the decay and erosion process, but repairs only entails for 5 to 10% of the specimen . This also may require the professional highlighting, shading, or coloring of separate pieces for the exhibition of a comprehensive, integrated appearance.
